Komenda Sugar Factory starts bagging on Monday
The Komenda Sugar factory would start bagging sugar for sale beginning today (Monday), the Central Regional Minister, Mr Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has said.

Addressing a people's forum in Cape Coast, the Minister exhibited two containers of sugar, which he said were from the factory.
Officials are expected to take the press on a tour of the factory later on Monday for them familiarise themselves with the operations of the factory.
The Komenda Sugar factory which was inaugurated last month has been at the centre of political debates with some questioning its viability with regards to sugar cane supply, timing for commissioning and a planned shutdown after the commissioning.
Mr Rickets-Hagan said government was committed to reviving collapsed factories and building new ones to create jobs so as to enhance the living conditions of Ghanaians.
He said government would prioritize the efficient maintenance of these factories to prevent them from collapse.
He said the factory has not been shut down saying the politics to decieve people on the factory was not necessary and gave the assurance that government would continue to better the lives of Ghanaians.
The “Government for the People” forum is a series of public fora initiated by government and aimed at providing a platform for the dissemination of information regarding government policies and programmes and their impact.

The Cape Coast forum was addressed by ministers of state, senior government officials and other resource persons.
It afforded the public the opportunity to provide critical feedback on matters affecting them during the questions and answers segment of the programme.
