‘I’ll help deepen diplomatic, commercial ties between Peru, Ghana’

The Honorary Consul of Peru to Ghana, Antonoine Ghassan Yared, has expressed his commitment to help deepen diplomatic and commercial ties between his country and Ghana.

He said in this regard, he was going to work hard to woo the business community in Peru to invest in Ghana to help grow the economy.

Mr Yared, who is also the owner of Forewin Ghana Limited, expressed the commitment at a ceremony in Accra to officially announce his appointment as Peru’s honorary consul to Ghana.

Strategies

“My intention primarily is to initiate strategies that will help forge strong bilateral relations between Peru and Ghana,” he indicated.

Mr Yared mentioned agriculture as one of the sectors where the two countries had comparable advantage and mentioned  other sectors such as tourism, culture and commerce as some of the areas where Peruvians could also explore.

“As  a seasoned business executive, I hope to delve deep into my experiences to attract the Peruvian business community into the country, and vice versa,” he said.

Potential

Peru is classified as an upper middle-income country by the World Bank.

It has rich deposits of natural resources, a thriving fishing and agricultural sector, traditional textile and growing tourism industries.

Introducing Mr Yared, the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Peru in Ghana, Eliot Gaviria Valverde, said the new consul was selected on merit as “the new Honorary Consul of Peru in this country”.

According to him, the government of Peru attached much importance to the roles performed by honorary consuls, “especially in West Africa where a Peruvian diplomatic mission has recently been opened”.
