The items donated at the Tema High Court and the Tema General Hospital included disposable gloves, liquid soap, nose mask, tissue paper, water dispenser, wall-mounted dispensers, face shields, disposable coveralls, hair covers, and N95 face masks.

The items for the courts were received on behalf of the Chief Justice by Justice Elizabeth Ankumah, Supervising High Court Judge, Tema, Medical Director of Tema General Hospital, Dr Richard Anthony receiving the items on behalf of the hospital.

The President of the Greater Accra Bar Association, Mrs Efua Ghartey, said the association had declared the week as its COVID 19 awareness week to intensify awareness on the disease and the need for their fellow law colleagues, clients, the judiciary, and the general public to adhere to the laid down protocols for safety and protection.

She said it was also against this background that the association was donating the relief items to the selected institutions.

"We are thus, making our humble donations worth over fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢50,000.00) to these three institutions this week. We believe that it is in our collective effort, that is, being each other’s keeper, and ensuring strict observance of these protocols as individuals, that we can curb this menace," she stated.

She said in the history of the country, the Bar had always risen to the challenge of showing leadership and at a time like this, they could not stand aloof while the pandemic ravages the country.

"For it is in the midst of strife that our humanity becomes evident. We want to thank the individual Lawyers and Law Firms who contributed to making this effort possible, members of the Welfare Committee, the judiciary, and the media," she said.

Donation at High Court Complex

Making the donation at the High Court Complex, Mrs Ghartey, said High Court Complex was the largest collection of courts in the country where the largest number of lawyers, judges, judicial staff and clients throng on a daily basis, thus keeping the complex safe was akin to keeping the country safe.

She said the collective effort of each and everyone would determine the outcome of the fight against the pandemic and therefore urged each and everyone to comply by the guidelines.

Members of the association who were present at the donation included the Vice President, Mr Daniel Owusu, the Secretary, Mr Aurelius Awuku, and the Treasurer, Dr Adu Anane Antwi.
