The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), Beauty Emefa Narteh, has called on Ghanaians to renew their commitment to building a society where integrity thrives and corruption is rejected.
She said the fight against corruption was a shared responsibility that required the active participation of governments, institutions, communities and citizens, adding that every act of honesty and accountability contributed to building a transparent, just and prosperous society.
Mrs Narteh made the call in a statement to mark the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Day, observed annually on July 11 to promote collective action against corruption across the continent.
The day commemorates the adoption of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption in 2003 and is being observed this year on the theme: "Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa".
Collective responsibility
Mrs Narteh said promoting integrity and combating corruption required sustained collaboration among all stakeholders, stressing that societies founded on honesty, transparency and accountability could only be built through collective commitment.
"The fight against corruption is a shared responsibility that demands the active participation of all. Every act of honesty, every decision to do what is right, and every effort to promote accountability brings us closer to the transparent, just and prosperous society we aspire to build," she said.
She urged citizens to reject corrupt practices and support efforts aimed at strengthening accountability and good governance.
Youth role
Mrs Narteh also underscored the importance of young people in advancing the anti-corruption agenda, urging them to resist, reject and report corruption.
She said the youth had a critical role to play in promoting integrity and accountability, describing them as today's champions of ethical leadership and an indispensable force in building a corruption-free Ghana.
