An organisation of Senya Bereku citizens in the diaspora, the Senya Legends Association has cut the sod for the construction of a theatre project for the Senya Polyclinic in the Central Region.
The theatre project is to serve the town and neighbouring communities.
As part of its contribution to healthcare delivery in the community, the association also presented 18 bedside cabinets to the polyclinic to help improve patient care and support the work of healthcare professionals.
The Deputy Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui and Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, was supported by members of the association, who had earlier presented two air-conditioners to the facility, as they cut the sod to mark the commencement of work.
Facility
In her remarks, Ms Tetteh-Agbotui, who had ensured the re-wiring of the facility to improve power supply, said development was a steady and gradual process.
She commended the Senya legends for owning the project, adding that healthcare was something the government took seriously, and pledged her support to ensure the project's completion, beginning with 100 bags of cement at the commencement of the project.
At the ceremony, the Secretary of the association, Claud Asmah, said members of the association were excited to support efforts to save the lives of the town's inhabitants.
He said their support was threefold and included their commitment to work with and partner the health facility to provide quality care to the people of Senya Bereku and its environs.
The Administrator of the polyclinic, Rosemond Cobbinah, thanked the association for its support, stressing that the steps taken by the association would go a long way toward improving healthcare in the town.
