I’m not worried about losing Kotoko job — Konadu

Despite the perilous nature of the Asante Kotoko coaching job, Coach Maxwell Konadu insists he is not intimidated by the possibility of being shown the exit from the job.

Coach Konadu is the fifth coach to be appointed by the Garden City club in the last three years and the 47-year-old insists he is not worried about the trend because he considered all those factors before signing for the club.

Between 2017 and 2019, Kotoko have hired the services of Croatian Zdravko Logarušic, Englishman Steven Polack, Ghana’s Paa Kwesi Fabin and Charles Akonnor, as well as Norwegian Kjetil Zachariassen.

Coach Konadu told the Daily Graphic in an interview yesterday that the high attrition rate in the club did not bother him much because “it comes with the job everywhere.”

“I am not worried about anything. I am very relaxed when I’m working but I know I am sometimes a bit aggressive on the job. I thought about that before accepting the job.

“Let’s wait and see what will happen. Maybe when we start to do things differently, they will see and admire, or whatever happens; that one belongs to the future,” he said.

The coach said Kotoko fans had endured enough pain of watching the club underperform but added that his presence was to turn things around and he was happy to have been handed the dugout responsibilities of the club.

“We know the pain the fans have gone through and I was very delighted and humbled when I heard my name on their list all over the country, which was also part of the decision to join Kotoko again.

“That is not to leave the current management out. They also played a role. Dr Kwame Kyei called me himself. Chiefs from Manhyia Palace played their role and last but not the least my allegiance to the club and former players of the club, some of whom spoke to me directly. I have to thank all of them,” he said.
