The facility which used to serve as an Episcopal residence of the church has been remodelled into the church’s central administration to serve the over 400 branches of the church in the WWAED, which comprise Ghana, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia.

Shortly after the election and consecration of Bishop Hilliard Dela Dogbe as the first resident indigenous Bishop of the WWAED of the AME Zion Church last year, the need for an Episcopal office came to the fore.

For more than 140 years, the WWAED has been under the administration of Bishops from the (United State Of America ) until the election of Rt Rev. Dr Dogbe in July last year as the First Resident Indigenous Bishop who was consecrated in October the same year. The facility, which was first built in 1979 and has gone through several stages, was remodelled at a cost of about GH¢ 500,000.

Rt Rev. Dr Dogbe, indicated that the inauguration of the facility was very significant as it would serve as the central to coordinating point of the churches in the four West African countries.

“The significance of this building cannot be underestimated. We have over 400 churches in the Episcopal area with about 400 preachers. It will thus provide the central point of the church,” he said, adding that the facility, therefore, brought to the fore the glory of God.

The central administration, he said, would bring all the churches in the WWAED together, especially with regard to their activities and programmes.

Rt Rev. Dogbe said operating previously from the Aggrey Memorial A.M.E Zion Church at Mamprobi, a branch of the church, did not ensure effective administration and that with this new facility and its space area, members would have enough space for the transaction of businesses among other things.

“For me, this is important in so many ways; to the glory of God, for the sake of the people of God and for God’s own kingdom. From here, we will be able to reach out to everyone everywhere in the church.

“Communication, information flow and everything will become easier. We expect that the face of the church will be more visible and it will lead to its tremendous growth,” he pointed out.

In a sermon, the Secretary to the Board of Bishops, Bishop Kenneth Monroe, who is also the Presiding Prelate of the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District of the AME Zion Church in the U.S.A, asked members of the church to take advantage of the many opportunities that God had for them.

According to him, God is a God of opportunities, adding that members should, therefore, avail themselves to the “many opportunities He will present to them.”
