Fire won't affect health delivery - Ministry of Health

The huge fire which has destroyed the Central Medical Stores in Tema will not affect healthcare delivery in the country, the Ministry of Health has stated.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Tony Goodman, said although the fire has spread to the engineering workshop of the Health Ministry, destroying some distribution trucks, it would not impede the delivery of drugs to various parts of the country.

Fire fighters, at the time of publishing this report, were still battling the inferno, which started at about 9am Tuesday.

The central medical stores serves as a central point for the supply of drugs to hospitals and pharmacies across the country.

Graphiconline’s Benjamin Glover reports that more than four fire tenders were at the scene but the fire fighters were having challenges with access to hydrants.

According to him, private tankers have been mobilised to supply water to support the fire service.
