Environmental cleanliness taken to corporate clients

To inculcate in corporate Ghana the need to always keep their surroundings clean, Zoomlion Domestic Ltd (ZDL), a subsidiary company of the Zoomlion Group of Companies, last Saturday began a clean-up of the environs of their big corporate clients numbering about 700.

The first of such exercises, which coincided with the monthly national sanitation day exercise, was undertaken at the Kotoka International Airport and its environs by about 100 sanitation workers working in five groups in five areas.

The areas that the groups of 20 worked were from the El-Wak traffic light to the Holiday Inn, the airport bypass to the main airport, the Hajj village and its environs, the Airport Police Station to the main airport and on the airport’s premises.

Reason for clean up

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr Husein Suadiq, acting Operations Manager of ZDL, said “although Zoomlion Ghana had always supported the National Sanitation Day programme, it felt the need to inculcate in their corporate clients the need to also get involved and clean their surroundings regularly.”

He said last Saturday’s programme focused on their clients, the Ghana Airports Company Limited, hence their decision to help clean the Kotoka Airport’s vicinity.

Mr Suadiq said henceforth “ZDL will always target at least one or two corporate clients on every sanitation day and help clean their environs, in addition to assisting the various assemblies in the national sanitation exercise.”

He explained that although the ZDL offers other services such as refuse heap evacuation, door-to-door services, events waste management and collection of construction debris, among others, the exercise last Saturday was meant to encourage their clients to ensure clean surroundings at all times.

Some workers of the Ghana Airports Company joined the ZDL staff to undertake the cleaning exercise which they said was a very welcome move which they applauded.

Impressions on exercise

In an interview with the Daily Graphic on the clean-up exercise, an official of the Ghana Airports Company lauded the initiative of ZDL, saying it was in the right direction as the Kotoka International Airport was the gateway to the West Africa sub region and so needed to be kept clean at all times.
