Don’t keep hatred in your heart — Rev Kwasi Afrifa

A call has gone out to Christians to have absolute confidence in Jesus since he is the only one who has the key to salvation.

The call was made by Rev. Daniel Kwasi Afrifa, the outgoing Deputy Minister of the Grace Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) in Suame in Kumasi.

Rev Afrifa made the statement in a sermon at a send-off service organised for him and his wife by the church last Sunday.

Rev. Afrifa had stayed with the Grace Congregation for three years and is on transfer to the Macedonia Congregation of the PCG at Kronom, near Kumasi, as Minister in-Charge.

Avoid hatred

In his delivery, he said, no matter the difficulties Christians faced it was always prudent for them to rely solely on the Almighty God who would take them out of their problems.

He observed that hatred, antagonism and poverty, among other problems or misfortunes, were all a part of human existence.

However, he said with a strong belief in the Omnipotence and Omnipresence of God, all difficulties could be surmounted.

He narrated the example of Joseph in the Bible, who he said faced enormous difficulties but never gave up his trust in God until he was released and became an influencial leader in Egypt.

"God’s mercy never ceases," he said.

Commit to God

He urged the congregation to commit themselves to the service of God and work assiduously to win more souls for Christ, assuring them that their good work would never be in vain.

He said in his 31 years of service as a minister of the gospel he had come to acknowledge that Jesus was indeed the saviour of mankind from all iniquities.

He was full of praise for the district pastor, church members, the District Standing Committee of the church, associations and prayer groups in the church and numerous others for showing his family and himself respect, hard work and generosity.

On behalf of the church, Rev Afrifa, was presented with a memento and a citation extolling his cordial relationship with members of the church, his commitment to service and his affability.

In attendance at the ceremony were Nana Okobin Kokoo Osiokwan II, Yaadwaa-Sekyere Amaniehene; Barima Antwi-Boasiako Asante, Asante-Mampong Asokwahene; Nana Adu-Ansere Bekoe, Suame Dikro and Nana Akua Framaa, Bantamahemaa.

Officiating Ministers on the occasion included Rev. Dickson Anane, the District Minister; Rev Kwame Asamoah-Effah, Minister for Breman; Rev Paul Owusu-Badu, Minister for Ntiribuoho and Rev Ebenezer Abrokwa, Minister for Asokore-Mampong, as well as Mr Robert Otuo Acheampong, District Lay Representative.
