The items included wheelchairs, rolling walkers, walkerchairs and quantities of diapers for the aged.

Others were sewing machines, bales of clothing and food items to some members of the community.

The Chairman of a disaster volunteer group in the area, Mr Daniel Amaadi Ahwireng, was also presented with a mounted bicycle and a megaphone to aid his work.

Helping the poor

Briefing the Daily Graphic after presenting the items, the Leader of Pauline Walley Evangelistic Ministries,  Dr Pauline Walley-Daniels said
the donation was part of a regular exercise under which the organisation presented items to individuals and PWDs in different parts of the world.

Dr Walley-Daniels said the Bible admonished Christians to demonstrate a high sense of care for the poor, needy and disadvantaged in society.

“We need to show to people that the kind of God we serve is a God of humanitarianism; a God who cares, provides and meets the needs of everyone in society,” she added.

Future plan

Dr Walley-Daniels said the organisation had planned to build a training and retreat centre for the people of Pokrom to impact their lives “for them to know that they are also loved.”

She added that the Pauline Walley Evangelistic Ministries had adopted the community and would be presenting various items to its members on special occasions such as Christmas, and feed them bimonthly.

She called on others to also show care and attention to the underprivileged.

Appreciation

Mr Ahwireng described the donation as timely, while the beneficiaries thanked the donor for its support.

Madam Sarah Akakpo, who was presented with a walker chair to be given to her father who could not walk unaided, said she was appreciative of the equipment.
