Cedar Mountain Chapel acquires $3.3 million land for new Chapel
The Lead Pastor of the Cedar Mountain Chapel, East Legon Assemblies of God, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam has announced that the church has acquired a 1.94 acre of land at a cost of $3.3million for the construction of a new church premises.
Rev Wengam said the L-shaped property located on the Boundary Road in Shiashie would be used for the construction of a 1,000-seater auditorium which will be christened the Cedar First Chapel as well as a 5,000-seater Cedar City Cathedral.

The site which would also host a home for the aged, a school, a shopping mall, a financial institution and a basement parking space.
The development of the land which hosted the colourful Ninth Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the Chapel on Sunday (October 6, 2019) forms part of a five-year plan of the church which ends in 2020.
"In our five-year plan, we had a vision to buy a land and build our ultramodern cathedral which will encompass other facilities like home for the aged, we are going to have a school, we are going to have a shopping mall, we are going to have a financial institution, so that when you come here you can transact business and do many things here," Reverend Wengam said in an interview with Graphic Online after the anniversary service.
"Essentially, to empower members economically. We may even run a school on this property".

In a message captured in the anniversary brochure, Rev Wengam shed light on the decision to purchase the property.
He wrote: "Let us all give God almighty the praise and thanksgiving. You see when you examine the congregation of Cedar Mountain Chapel, East Legon and you sound the vision to purchase a $3.3M land in East Legon, it beats all logic. It serves to only sound as a hit on the table to make it sound like drumming. But God is not a God of human logic. We are proud of how far He has brought us. We have paid off the land and are proud owners of this destination. The journey is farther ahead so we have to girdle up for the rest of the journey".
Providing insight on how the acquisition was funded, the preacher disclosed that his family led the way by making their own financial contributions.
"The slogan is that we believe in the future so we don't think of today, so we sacrifice our all. People sold their cars, sold their lands, my family's investment, we pushed all into this land because we believe in the vision", he stated.
"So, when they saw that the leader has shown the way, the leaders were inspired to come on board and that is how we were able to pay for this land".
The ninth anniversary of the Chapel was themed: Bearing the Fruit of the spirit with speed.

There is no perfect church
Delivering the sermon, the guest preacher of the anniversary, Rev Richard C. Whitcomb, advised against a negative practice of some Christians which he described as "church shopping".
He said Christians today have a consumer mentality regarding their faith which pushes them to seek a perfect church.
"You need to be committed to this church. We have a problem today, we've got a consumer mentality, we think we can church shop and church hop.
"We are like consumers at a restaurant, we want to see the menu and pick what we like and leave what we don't... We have some people who come and they don't like the music, they don't like the Pastor, they don't like the Pastor's wife and they are looking for the perfect church and this is not the perfect church.
"Let me tell you something my friend, if you are looking for the perfect church you won't find it but even if you find the perfect church... The moment you join, it won't be perfect anymore".
Create opportunities for the youth
The Special Guest of Honour of the anniversary, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo noted the influence on the youth in the churches activities. He also advised the church to create even more opportunities for the youth in the face of growing global difficulties.
"I see that the youth play a leading role in this church. The church is a refuge for young people to learn and to grow and to be strong, and to be able to navigate the storms and the opportunities in the world today," he said.
"Congratulations for that strategic decision that you have obviously taken to get young people in the church".

Cedar Mountain Chapel, East Legon Assemblies of God, Ghana started on October 3, 2010, with 120 members.
The vision of the Chapel is to build a model church which will impact society, raise leaders and eventually qualify members for heaven.
