Bishop Obinim rains curses on ‘bad’, ‘wicked’ policemen

Leader and General Overseer of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has asked God to punish a number of policemen he variously called wicked, fake, and unhelpful.

He said upon his arrest Tuesday, the wicked policemen refused to adjust his restraining handcuffs while it hurt him badly. 

I did not know that while I struggled with the handcuffs, they were gripping tighter and tighter. It hurt badly so I asked them to readjust it so I could get some comfort but they refused. God will punish them. God will punish them all. They know themselves. Who says I’m afraid of the truth, God will punish them for disgracing the son of Jesus, he repeated while addressing his supporters in Twi upon his release on bail Thursday.

But Obinim also had praise for some other policemen whoo he said were good ones and professionally minded. One such policeman, he said, offered him malt drink after explaining to him that the offence for which he was being sought for by the law, was nothing grievous.

He had been invited, along with his Accra resident Pastor Kingsley Baah Ameyaw, to the Tema Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit on Tuesday over his public flogging of two of his foster children. He was later arrested for alleged fraud in a different case, and granted self-recognizance bail on Thursday, as hundreds of his followers and supporters welcomed him back home.

Upon his arrest on Tuesday, his followers stormed the Nima Police Station and later the Police Headquarters to demand his release, while the prayerful interceded on his behalf.

While addressing his supporters, he defended his action of flogging the foster children, a girl and a boy - for allegedly indulging in fornication which resulted in pregnancy and attempted abortion. According to him, the biblical admonition to reprimand the erring was to be done in the church, not in private.
