The group had earlier made a similar donation to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research in Accra.

In all, the items cost €150,000.

The items were first presented to the Manhyia Palace before they were distributed to the beneficiary institutions.

Backing Asantehene

A representative of the union, Nana Agyapong Ntra Badu, who is also the Asantefuohene of Austria, said the idea was to back the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in his quest to give quality healthcare to his people.

He said the group had plans to adopt some wards in the three hospitals to give comfort to patients.

Ghanaian culture

The Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Jubilee House, Mr Akwasi Awua Ababio, said the government was determined to ensure that Ghanaians living in other countries did not lose touch with their culture.

Currently, he said, through government's initiative, the Twi language was being taught in some German universities to promote the "Eat Ghana, wear Ghana and grow Ghana” initiative of the government.

Commendation

A representative of the Asantehene, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, who is the Asokore Mamponhene, commended the association and conveyed Otumfuo's blessings to them.

He said the Asantehene was ready to assist and facilitate any move to help develop and support any initiative to grow Ghana.
