Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, a native of Awuah Odumase, has constructed a mechanised borehole for the girls’ dormitory of the Odumaseman Senior High School (SHS) at Odumasi in the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region.

The facility was handed over to the school on Wednesday, July 1, this year, at a short ceremony.

Among the dignitaries at the handover ceremony was the Sunyani West Municipal Director of Education, Mr Issah Baffoe and the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Joseph Abudu.

In her remarks, Amma Frimpomaa, who is the Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, said the building of the borehole formed part of her annual donations to hospitals, clinics, and orphanage centres.

"I was informed that they need a borehole for their girls’ dormitory so my donations for this year focused on the school. There was this situation where the girls always go outside the school boundaries in search of an essential commodity like water. This was very disturbing to say the least," she lamented.

She was of the view that that the facility would go a long way to address the water challenges at the school, particularly at the girls’ dormitory.

Amma Frimpomaa said the project was long completed around the month of May but because of the COVID-19, it could not be officially inaugurated.

"Since President Nana Akufo-Addo announced that final year students can go back to school, we decided to use the opportunity to commission the Borehole for it to be used as the students continue to stay in school," the CEO of SIC Life Savings and Loans stated.

She noted that water had become very important particularly during this time that people ought to wash their hands regularly as part of measures to observe the COVID-19 protocols.

"I am personally glad that this project has seen the light of day. I urge all the students to take good care of it and further challenge the school authorities to keep a close eye on this water facility to help us maintain it and prolong its lifespan,” Amma Frimpomaa appealed.

The Headmaster, Mr. Joseph Abudu, commended Amma Frimpomaa for the gesture, pledging that the school would take good care of the facility in order to achieve the purpose for which it was built.
