Amansie South District was among the 38 municipal and districts created by Legislative Instrument earlier this year.

Until the creation, it used to be part of the Amansie West District. It has an estimated population of 87,787 with 87 communities and 26 electoral areas.

Hard work

In his address to the Assembly, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr William Bediako Asante, appealed to the assembly members to work hard to bring development to the district.

He said the district lacked "total evelopment" which was a source of concern but was optimistic that with hard work and unity, the district would soon see the expected development.

Mr Bediako told the meeting that the road from Mem Junction to Manso Adubia through Keniago to Datano would soon be tarred for easy movement of goods and services.

He said two major projects which needed urgent attention in the district were the construction of a police headquarters and a district court building to help check crime in the district.

He also called for the formation of community watch committees in all the communities to assist the police in fighting crime.

He said the construction of a medical officer's bungalow was ongoing at Manso Adubia to enable the Manso Adubia health centre to be upgraded to a district hospital.

Other speakers

The District Coordinating Director, Mr Samuel Kyei Baffour Frimpong, asked the sub-committees to start work immediately to enable the assembly to move forward.

He asked them to submit their priority projects to the assembly for urgent consideration.

The Presiding Member, Mr Akuoko Kwarteng, for his part, asked the assembly members to always meet their electorates and brief them on the assembly's deliberations.
