AfriSAFE, a pan-African safety advocacy organisation, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his personal participation in last week's national general cleaning exercise after the floods.
The NGO described President Mahama's involvement as an example of leadership that will strengthen public commitment to environmental sanitation and disaster prevention.
The organisation said the President's decision to join citizens, security agencies, metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, and other stakeholders in cleaning communities and desilting drains after the recent floods demonstrated the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued by AfriSAFE on the theme "Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana After the Floods."
The organisation expressed condolences to families who lost relatives in the floods and sympathised with all those whose homes, businesses and livelihoods were affected.
The Chief Executive Officer of AfriSAFE, Mr Femi Da-silva, said the President's direct involvement had sent a strong signal about civic responsibility and national unity.
"President Mahama's personal involvement in this exercise sends a powerful message about leadership, civic responsibility and national unity," he said.
