ABSA support for frontline staff

Presenting the cheque for the amount to the COVID-19 Response Team in Accra yesterday, the Marketing and Corporate Relations Director of ABSA, Nana Essilfuah Boison, said the donation was to be used to buy more test kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline health workers involved in the fight against the pandemic.

She said the donation was also the bank’s response to the call for support to help the government mobilise resources and logistics to deal with the pandemic.

Ms Boison indicated that the bank would keep monitoring developments on the COVID-19 and take decisions that would be in the best interest of customers and employees.

She said already, ABSA had, in response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 on its customers, with effect from yesterday, offered a repayment moratorium of up to six months to all personal and business customers who had been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Receiving the cheque, the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Osei Opare, commended the bank for contributing its quota to government’s efforts at combating the spread of the pandemic.

She reiterated the need for a concerted effort to garner all the resources required to combat the virus.

She said the trust fund had opened an account at the GCB Bank and would duly acknowledge receipt of the donation and all others, stressing that all donations would be used for the benefit of the needy and most vulnerable in society.
