Five years of wrongful dismissal as a senior lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba, Dr Samuel Atintono has been exonerated.

This follows a recommendation of an interim report submitted by a reconciliation committee instituted by the Governing Council of the university to investigate his petition of the dismissal by the former Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Rev. Fr Afful Broni.

Consequently, the committee has reinstated Dr Atintono as a senior lecturer of the university.

In a letter dated June 8, 2022, and signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Mawutor Avoke informing Dr Atintono of his reinstatement, it said, “the committee among other findings established that you were wrongfully dismissed.

Reinstatement

“I, therefore, write on behalf of governing council of the university to re-instate you as a senior lecturer. “You will be placed on the appropriate notch/step of the salary scale attached to your post.

“Do not hesitate to contact me for any further assistance you may require to enable you to settle as quickly as possible,” the letter, which was copied the Pro-vice-chancellor and 13 other senior officers of the university said.

The letter directed Dr Atintono to report to the Principal, College of Languages Education, Ajumako, “Who will reassign you your duties and inform us of your resumption of duty.”

Reaction

When contacted, Dr Atintono expressed delight, saying “I am happy that justice has been done to the issue to relieve me of the psychological pain and trauma that I have endured for all these years”.

He expressed gratitude to all those, “who stood by me for their prayers and support.
