In addition, he said, parents must also help and support their children to discover their talents, skills and knowledge for their total development.

Mr Tetteh made the call at the pre-school graduation of the Light of the World School Complex at New Aplaku in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The event, which was on the theme: “Talents, Knowledge, Skills- A Panacea For Development”, was interspersed with drama and dancing, Bible verse recitals and modelling.

In all, 47 pupils graduated from kindergarten two to primary one.  The graduands were presented with certificates.

The Under-20 national team coach recognised the commitment, dedication and sacrifice parents made towards the well-being of their children’s education, adding that “all these strenuous effort put in by parents help to shape the future of children”.

“The importance of acquiring skills, knowledge and discovering of talents cannot be over-emphasised’’.

“A nation that creates an enabling environment for its citizens to have access to education, health facilities and so on can effectively use the skills and talents to harness the world at large,” he said.

Mr Tetteh said through talents, skills and knowledge, the world had been able to produce great personalities including authors, motivational speakers, musicians, footballers, athletes, actors, actresses, lawyers and doctors.

Mr Tetteh has over the years supported the school with jerseys, footballs and other sporting items.

The headmistress of the school, Mrs Esther Hamilton, said the educational system should be able to bring out the best in children.

Failure to do that, she said, “We would not succeed”.

“Let’s bring out the skills and talents in the children. We don’t want academic excellence that is stagnant,” she said.
