GHANATA Old Students Association (GOSA) has presented a cheque for GH¢15,000 to its alma mater, Ghanata Senior High School, at a ceremony at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region to support it in the upcoming National Science and Maths Quiz competition.
The presentation was in response to an appeal made by the school to the association.
The National President of GOSA, Mr Roosevelt Odai Otoo, who made the presentation, said the money was to be used to purchase desktop computers, laptops, books and other education materials.
It would also serve as an incentive for the team's coaches who he said had been excellent in training contestants for the quiz, especially during a regional competition held in February this year, where they emerged the victors.
“I am convinced this will raise standards among the students and also improve on the quality of education in the school,” he added.

Mr Otoo also urged the students to focus on their studies since it would help them secure jobs in future.
Mr Otoo, who is the Deputy Director of the Department of Feeder Roads (DFR), said rehabilitation works on roads in the school and its environs would commence in the second week of this month, as part of efforts to give the school a facelift.
He said a contract had been awarded for completion of works within 12 months.
The Head of the Department of Mathematics, Ms Antoinette Adraki, who received the cheque on behalf of the school, expressed gratitude to GOSA.
She said the money came at the right time to cushion the school in its preparation for the National Science and Maths Quiz.
