BlueCrest 18th graduation; 116 graduates from BlueCrest University College

A total of 116 students have graduated from BlueCrest University College in Accra with a call for them to be guided by their Professional ethics and standard.

The Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency in Accra, Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, who made the call said their academic credentials would be worthless if they did not meet the ethics of their respective professions.

Speaking on the theme, “The role of higher education in creating employment opportunities for the youth,” the MP said, for the grafters to uphold good values wherever they find themselves as that would help make the world a better place and set them apart from the rest.

Graduation

The graduation which happens in Accra on November 19, 2022 saw 16 students graduate from the university with Master of Science in Information Technology.

The rest graduated with degrees from various faculties including Bachelor of Science (BSC) in Information Technology, BSC in Fashion and Design, Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism, B.A in Human Resource Management, Information System, Banking and Finance, and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

Awards were given to best performing students from the various faculties.

Lady Peale Akpokpli, who scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.84, was awarded the overall best student.

Consistency

The Rector of the School, Dr Sujith Jayaprakash, said the university had consistently succeeded in producing professionals graduates capable of creating employment and finding job opportunities since its inception.

He said the University’s decision to offer programmes in technology, fashion, journalism, and business had ultimately assisted the school in attaining its current height.

As the world moved closer to its fourth and fifth revolutions, which were completely dependent on technology, the Rector said the University recognised its significance and was including emerging technologies into all of the college's available streams adding, “We have always placed a strong emphasis on technology-enabled education”.

He further called on stakeholders especially educational institutions to change their curriculum to suit the current trends in the global marketplace in order to create job driven graduate who will think laterally.

Future plans for BlueCrest, he said included launching online learning initiatives that would give rural residents access to high-quality education.

“The institution has ambitions to start offering courses in fields like data science, cybersecurity, blockchain, sustainable fashion, creative economy, digital journalism, and others in the near future.

“Together we can build a work-force that can bring a substantial change in everyone's life,” he added.

Gratitude

Ms Akpokpli expressed gratitude to the university for offering free certificate courses which built her capacity to enable her to achieve the feat.

She further urged her colleagues impact the world with the knowledge acquired from the University to help make the world a better place.
