Together the 1989 and 91 year groups also presented five tonnes of iron rods, five trips of quarry stones and five coils of binding wire amounting to GH¢23,290.00 to the school.

Dr Arko Andoh and Mr Francis Boateng, who led the old students, made the presentation to the Headmaster of the school, Mr George Oduro-Yeboah.

In separate remarks, they said the presentation became necessary when news broke   that fire had gutted one of the dormitories of the school, pointing out that the groups could not wait but to make their contributions to help rebuild the burnt dormitory.

They added that as old students, they had always held it dear to their hearts to support their former school.

Appeal for support

They, however, called on other year groups of the school and the general public to come to the aid of the school, especially in the area of rebuilding the burnt dormitory and to replace the lost items.

Receiving the items, Mr Oduro-Yeboah expressed gratitude to the groups for the kind gesture, and called on other old students of the school to emulate the benevolence of the groups to help build the school for the future.

It would be recalled that on the night of Wednesday, January 17 this year,  there was fire at the Nana Ameyaw House ‘B’ boys dormitory of the school, which houses nearly 100 students.

The fire destroyed everything: trunks, chop boxes, clothes, books and buckets at a time when the students were at prep, so there were no casualties.

Witnesses quickly called personnel of the Bekwai office of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), who rushed to the scene but everything was burnt to ashes.
