The consignment included 20 laptops and three desktop computers.

The Information Communication and Technology (ICT) centre itself, known as the Adjaye ICT laboratory, was set up by the Adjaye family for the college 10 years ago.

One of the Adjaye brothers who led the team to present the computers, Dr Robert Adjaye (APSU 1964), emphasised that in 2014, the Adjayes donated 60 computers to the school following a meeting between the then headmaster and one of the Adjaye brothers, late Joseph Adjaye.

Last weekend, the family also sponsored four awards, in line with the Robert Adjaye excellence awards instituted by the family, as part of efforts at promoting excellence in St Augustine’s College.

Dr Adjaye (APSU 1964) was hopeful that the computers would go a long way to improve the study of ICT in the school.

Family's association

The family's association with St Augustine’s College started with Robert Adjaye Snr, who was a pioneer student of the school in 1930.

Dr Adjaye said his father, Robert Adjaye Snr his siblings, cousins, sons and nephews also attended the college and then their mother, Elizabeth Ulzen Adjaye, also became a domestic bursar of the college from 1965-1968.

Dr Adjaye said the college had served and trained the family with remarkable life-long values and they were happy to give back to the school.

The Headmaster of St Augustine’s College, Henry Arthur-Gyan, thanked the Adjaye family for their continuous support towards the development of the school.

He also appealed to other APSUNIANS to follow the example of the Adjaye family and support their alma mater.
