Accept postings to rural areas - Presby Moderator urges teachers
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, has called on teachers to accept postings to rural areas.
He said the work of a teacher was akin to that of a missionary sent to spread the gospel, and, therefore, it was important for teachers to accept postings to areas where education was greatly needed.

The moderator of the PCG made the call at the 13th Congregation of the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education (KPCE) at Kyebi in the Eastern Region last Saturday.
According to him, inasmuch as policy makers and other stakeholders had a duty to improve on the condition of service of teachers, it was equally important for teachers to play their role as the catalyst of education by accepting their postings.
“When you are sent to rural areas, please take it as a missionary work, and discharge your duties as a servant of God,” he advised the graduating teachers.
Congregation
Two set of 661 granduands, comprising the 2019 and 2020 batch graduated at the congregation.
Out of the number, seven graduated with first class.
Projects
The occasion was also used to inaugurate two new projects — a multi-purpose amphitheater sports complex, and a two-bedroom flat for the chaplain of the college.
They were built with the internally generated funds of the college, with support from the student body and the Chaplaincy Board of the school.
The Principal of the KPCE, Rev. Dr Charles Fosu-Ayarkwah, said the college had embarked on massive infrastructure drive to increase the student population from the current 1,411 and further improve on its teaching and learning.
This year alone, he said the college had inaugurated a new auditorium, a lecture hall, a female hall annex, a one-storey male hall annex and two staff bungalows.
Procurement of buses
Rev. Dr Fosu-Ayarkwah appealed to old students of the college, and others to assist the college to procure additional buses to convey students to other schools for the supported teaching in schools (STS) sessions.
He said although the KPCE had already purchased two new buses for the stated purpose, they were not enough to adequately serve the needs of the college.
