How to prevent, treat common lifestyle diseases - PLAYBACK 

In an effort to promote awareness about common lifestyle diseases and educate the public on their symptoms and prevention, The Mirror hosted Dr Emmanuel Addipa-Adapoe on Twitter Spaces on Monday.

Dr Addipa-Adapoe, a medical doctor at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital educated listeners on treating lifestyle-related disease.  

The Assistant Editor of The Mirror, Hadiza Nuhhu-Billa Quansah was the host.

Dr Addipa-Adapoe addressed some problems associated with ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease in today's society.

He emphasised the importance of recognising the early warning signs, adhering to prescribed treatment and warned against the abuse of drugs and herbs.

Dr Addipa-Adapoe mentioned poor diet, lack of physical activity, and stress as factors which contributed to lifestyles diseases.

He urged listeners to take charge of their health by making simple yet impactful changes to their daily routines.

Listeners were particularly interested in the preventive measures, such as adopting a balanced diet, avoiding the excess consumption of fizzy drinks, salt and sugar, staying physically active, and managing stress through mindfulness techniques.
