See the 65 countries with visa-free access to Ghanaian passport holders

The Ghanaian passport dipped one place to 78th on the 2020 Henley Passport Index, which periodically measures the world's most travel-friendly passports.

According to the index, the Ghanaian passport provides visa-free/visa on arrival access to 65 destinations across Asia, Africa, Caribbean, Oceania, Americas and the Middle East while 161 destinations required a visa from Ghanaian nationals.

The Ghanaian passport was ranked the 77th strongest with visa-free access to 63 countries in 2019 by the index.

Ghana's highest ranking on the index came in 2006 when it placed 53rd.

*Although the index lists South Africa among the destinations with visa-free access to Ghanaian passport holders, the two countries are yet to finalise the agreement.

South Africa Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane in an interview last November explained that the delay was due to ongoing discussions between the two countries.

Africa

The highest-ranked passport in Africa was that of Seychelles, which offers visa-free access to 151 countries followed by Mauritius (146 countries).

World

The Japanese passport was first on the index, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to an incredible 191 destinations around the world.

The index is dominated by Asia, with Singapore in second place and South Korea tied with Germany in third place.

The top ten is completed by European countries, with Finland and Spain in fourth place, Spain, Luxembourg and Denmark coming fifth, and Sweden and France placing sixth.

The US and the US now hold joint eighth place.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan has the weakest passport, which offers visa-free/visa-on-arrival access to just 26 destinations.
