GEPA honours Hajia Rabiatu Abukari at Women Icons Exhibition in Tamale

The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Maltiti Enterprise, an agribusiness venture, Hajia Rabiatu Abukari, has been crowned the women’s icon of the Northern Region.

She was honoured by the Ghana Export Authority at the opening of a three - day exhibition of products manufactured by Ghanaian women -owned businesses. Hajia Rabiatu is a manufacturer and exporter of products made from shea butter, moringa, rice black soap among others.

In her acceptance remarks, she asked women business owners to diversify their products in order to suit different tastes to make it easier to market them.

She was grateful for the support of GEPA for its support which had helped expose her to international markets.

In an address read on her behalf, the CEO of GEPA, Dr Afua Asabea Asare, called for support  for women by patronising their  businesses adding that “as we celebrate her achievements, let us come together to honuor all our wonderful women who have made significant achievements in their field of work.

 I urge each and every one to embrace this initiative and join us on our agenda to promote made-in-Ghana products especially owned by women to drive a sustainable development”.

 The Director of the Department of Gender in the Northern Region, Madam Bushira Alhassan, called on institutions to give women the necessary support through funding and marketing their products.

The representative of the Gulkpena , Kpaling Zobogu Naa, Mohammed Rashad asked women business owners to involve their male partners in their ventures to provide the necessary peace they needed at home to achieve more.

 A representative of the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu , described women as the heartbeat of society explaining that if they cease to function, the progress of society would not develop.
