Under the theme, “Buy Ghana Build Ghana”, the two-day event is aimed at promoting made in Ghana  fashion products such as outfits, shoes, bags, beauty products made by young Ghanaian entrepreneurs.

It will also give the opportunity for  models, make up artists, designers among others to showcase their products.

Designers whose works will grace the runway include Afoley Clothing, Janet’s Collections, Barikima Design, and Sleek Perfect.

Talking to Showbiz, a member of the organising committee, Clifford Selorm, an entrepreneur and also winner of the Mr Model Ghana 2014 said, the relevance of the event is to support and promote Ghanaian products in the face of stiff competition in a “global market” among the youth.

“Although there is a campaign already for Made in Ghana products by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, I’m organising this event to support the campaign.

“ I think as a youth and a responsible member of the society, I need to value my own. That has been the inspiration behind this fashion event,” he stated.

The Legon Fashion Weekend is supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Association Students of Performing Arts (ASPA), Alexander Kwapong and Elizabeth .F. Sey.

Other sponsors are Fashion Gh, Empire Gh, Graphic Showbiz, GH Top Models, Events GH, Rock Radio, Campus Base TV, Plug Ghana among others.
