Stand against manipulation of Education system by politicians - GNAPS

The management of the Central Regional Branch of Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) has called on Ghanaians and religious leaders to stand up devoid of trepidation against the manipulation of education system by politicians must completely leave the professionals in the sector to handle the Educational System in a much enhanced approach.

Mr. Eric Appiah, the central regional chairman of GNAPS made the call at lunch of the 2015 annual GNAPS week celebration at Apam in the Gomoa West district of the central region.

He said, GNAPS acknowledges the fact that, the state is incapable of bearing the saddle of education alone, article 25(2) of the constitution grants individuals the right to establish school to support government, by virtue of this, the existence of GNAPS. 

The leadership mentioned complete discrimination against private schools in terms of funding ; frequent policy changes occasioned by changes in governments , non commitment to follow laid down rules and regulations contained in the general order of the Ghana educational service and national preference for everything foreign is an aggravating factors for nations educational woes instead of well developed Curriculum to suit the nation, as some of the problems the private schools in the country are faced with.

Mr. Hayford Edu Quaye, Gomoa West Chairman of GNAPS in his address called on government to turn its attention towards assisting private schools especially those in the rural areas, to benefit from the infrastructural development.

The Paramount Chief of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nana Nyanful Krampa XI who was the chairman for the occasion advised the leadership of the GNAPS to work in partnership with government to come out with a structured policy that will enforce the Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to allocate funds to support Private school under their jurisdiction to enable them meet their financial obligation to improve their infrastructural Development.

The program was under the theme “God, Save Education in Ghana.
