The Light of the World School has recorded yet another impressive performance in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The New Aplaku based school in the Ga South Municipality, which presented 75 candidates, had 10 students who got nine grade ones; 12 students, eight grade ones; 23 students, seven grade ones; 13 students, six grade ones; 12 students, five grade ones; two students, four grade ones and two students, three grade ones.
At a thanksgiving and graduation ceremony, each of the graduates was presented with a certificate, while 13 other outstanding ones were presented with prizes.
Before the event started, the graduates went on a procession from the school’s premises to the Old Barrier and the SCC Junction along the main Kasoa-Mallam Road, amidst brass band music and dancing, to thank God for their success in the 2015 BECE.
Ten students, who had nine grade ones in all the subjects at the BECE, the outgoing prefects, as well as some teachers, were honoured with various presents. The prizes given to the teachers included cash, flat screen television and table top refrigerators.
Old students of the school who have distinguished themselves in various fields also graced the occasion.
The Headmistress of the Light of the World School Complex, Mrs Esther Hamilton, swore into office the new executive of the school’s old students association. They include Dr Michael Quaye, President and Mr Kwame Bamfo Asante, Vice President.
Mrs Hamilton called on parents and guardians not to relent in their efforts to ensure that their children and wards are disciplined.
That, she said, was because discipline was key in the growth and development of children.
“Discipline is the core of moral and academic life. One needs moral and academic discipline to excel in life as a whole,” she said.
