The Stream ‘B’ of the school, however, took the 15th position.

Statistics made available by the Accra Metro Education Directorate to the Junior Graphic  on the performance of public schools in the metropolis indicated that the Ministry of Health JHS ‘A’ took the second position while the Star of the Sea Roman Catholic JHS took the third place.

The St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic School placed fourth, Bishop John Daly JHS, fifth;  K.G. St. Mary’s Girls, sixth; Kaneshie Awudome ‘1’ JHS A, seventh; Kaneshie Awudome ‘1’ JHS B, eighth; Kaneshie West ‘1’ JHS ninth while the Abossey Okai Methodist JHS placed 10th.

Reacting to news about the performance of the school, the Headteacher of the Kaneshie Awudome ‘3’ JHS,

Mrs Agnes Rose Dinsey, told the Junior Graphic that strict supervision and effective monitoring of the students played a key role in the school’s achieving that feat.

This, she said, was coupled with the hard work of teachers and the dedication of students to their books.

She said, special classes were held for the 35 candidates to prepare them adequately before they sat for the BECE last year.

“Honestly, we dwelt much on English, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies. We actively involved the parents,” she said, adding that “we also exchanged mock questions with other schools”.

Mrs Dinsey noted that candidates wrote five mock examinations before they finally sat for the BECE.

“With a supportive parent-teacher-association and committed teachers, I was able to build upon what I inherited. I have since then chalked up several achievements. These achievements can be categorised under infrastructure, academic and discipline”.

The Kaneshie Awudome ‘3’ JHS was established on January 28, 1958 as Dodowa Road Girls’ Middle Number Four.

On January 27, 1959, however, the school was transferred from its original location on the Dodowa Road to Kaneshie Awudome with only two teachers and a headmistress, then Mrs Sarah Awadzi.
