Junior Graphic wins award

Junior Graphic, a brand of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), has been adjudged the Best Print Media Organisation for its outstanding contribution to youth growth and empowerment.

At the 2015 edition of the Head of State Award Scheme (HOSA) and the maiden Ghana Business Awards held at the Banquet Hall in Accra last Tuesday, the newspaper won the award in a category that had its sister brand, Graphic Showbiz, as its only contender.

According to the organisers of the event, Junior Graphic, over the past years, had contributed tremendously to the growth of youth talent and skills.
The newspaper, the organisers said, had devoted its columns to promoting youth activities and programmes.

Junior Graphic was, therefore, honoured with the award after the organisers had carefully analysed its content and found it worthy of commendation.

In all, 20 young individuals received the National Gold Award for their exceptional contribution to national development while 20 corporate and non-governmental institutions were honoured for their support to youth growth.

The Chief Executive Officer of Wonder World Properties, Nana Kwame Bediako, was adjudged the Youth Entrepreneur of The Year.
The event was on the theme: “Rewarding Business in Support of Youth Development.”

In a speech read on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama by the Minister for Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, he said the government was committed to investing immensely in the development of the youth.

He mentioned the establishment of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund as one of the many initiatives the government had put in place to promote youth development and also ease the burden on job seekers and first-time young businessmen and women.

Some of the companies which won awards included the British International School, the Best Academic Excellence Award for the Primary Category; the Presbyterian Boys SHS, Legon, and the Central University College, Academic Excellence Award for SHS and Tertiary level respectively.
