Introduce policies to promote academic excellence — Joyce Aryee

Dr Joyce Aryee, the Founder of the Salt and Light Ministries, has appealed to management and parents of educational institutions to introduce policies which would promote academic excellence and halt the decay in education across the country.

She said it was necessary to inform and educate the entire citizenry regarding policies and procedures to discourage examination malpractices.

Dr Aryee was speaking at the 59th Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Ridge Church School in Accra.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Efuah Dake, said in her annual report that the school had improved upon its performance in the 2015 BECE results.

The school, she said, recorded 96.4 per cent in basic design and over 70 per cent of candidates recorded grade one in English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Religious and Moral Education and Pre-technical skills.

She said for the fifth consecutive time, the school had won the annual inter-school basketball tournament.

Mrs Dake also announced that Miss Efua Manukure Ansah, a student of the school who represented Ghana at the international Spelling Bee contest held in the United States, placed 20th out of 200 participants worldwide.

At the event, two long-serving teachers who have served between 20 and 30 years and were due for retirement were honoured for their dedication to duty.
