Class Six Pupils of Central Lyceum in Tamale, run by the Tamale branch of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), have donated assorted food items, detergents and clothes to the Tamale Children's Home.
The items included fruit juices, biscuits, diapers, baby weaning foods, used clothing and shoes.
Contributions of GH¢0.10p. each from the pupils, with support from their parents, were used to buy the items for the children of the home.
The schoolchildren who were accompanied by their teachers to the home also spent some time interacting with their peers at the home and made friends with them.
The Class Teacher of the donors, Mr Moses Debezee, said the presentation would be an annual affair to help inculcate the habit of giving in the children.
Madam Augustina Quainoo, the Supervisor of the home, expressed gratitude to the children for their support and said the home had 31 inmates, with the youngest being two weeks old while the eldest is 19 years.
She added that one of the children was currently in senior high school. She said the home was owned and funded by the government but also had to rely on corporate institutions and individuals.
She appealed for more support from members of the society for the home.
