The Children’s Ministry of the Bethel Methodist Church, Taifa, has climaxed its Children’s Week celebrations with a thanksgiving service.
The week-long activities included a talk on the theme for the celebrations, prayers, musical night and games.
The celebration was on the theme: “Teaching Children the Methodist Identity For Social Impact”.
During the service, the Sunday school children engaged in various activities such as leading the service as the liturgists, reading Bible passages, recital of poems and Bible verses, singing and a drama performance.
Parents were delighted to see their children display all that their teachers had taught them.
In a sermon which was on the theme, “Truthfulness in Worship”, the Superintendent Minister of the Taifa Circuit of the Methodist Church, Very Reverend Dr Mathias Kwasi Forson, said just as Jesus Christ resisted the temptations of the devil in the wilderness, christians also needed to try and overcome all the devices of the enemy by yielding and surrendering to the Holy Spirit.
“No amount of spirituality can exempt anyone from being tempted, whether young or old, however, we can always defeat the enemy by the authority of God’s word and through the power of the Holy Spirit,” he added.
To children and young people, Very Rev. Dr Forson advised that it was very important to decide to live for Christ at an early age, adding that, “the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and wisdom will save you from committing a lot of mistakes,” he noted.
