Ghana's Ambassador to China, Ambassador Kojo Bonsu, has secured exchange programme opportunities for Ghanaian youth to study Artificial Intelligence and advanced technology in China, both onsite for students in China and online for students in Ghana.
The breakthrough was announced during the Ambassador's three-day working visit to Zhoukou City, Henan Province, from September 22 to 24, 2026, which culminated in the launch of the China-Ghana Youth AI Talent Development Programme at Zhoukou Normal University.
The programme, an initiative of the Ambassador's GenZ AI Club in partnership with leading Chinese technology firm APUS Technology Company Limited, is designed to equip young Ghanaians not just to use technology, but to create and lead with it.
Speaking at the launch, the Ambassador said the initiative marked the beginning of a new chapter in Ghana-China cooperation in technology, education, innovation and youth development.
"Artificial Intelligence is changing the world at an extraordinary pace. The question is whether Ghanaian youth will have the knowledge and opportunities to shape that transformation. We must move from being consumers of technology to becoming creators and developers," he stated.
Zhoukou Normal University has committed to providing a one-year course outline, from fundamentals to a full comprehensive programme, as well as scholarships for young Ghanaians, opening pathways for student exchanges, faculty collaboration and joint research. The Ambassador welcomed the commitment, describing it as a practical investment in Ghana's future.
He thanked Zhoukou Vice Mayor Qin Shengjun and the university leadership, noting that universities are bridges between nations. He charged the youth with three words: learn, innovate and lead.
The university also indicated that it welcomes music and cultural courses and exchanges from Ghanaians and will ensure the good relationship between China and Ghana is strengthened.
In a major boost for participants, APUS Technology Company Limited will be offering outstanding students both in China and Ghana, during the one-year programme, internships and tailored job contracts focused on developing AI solutions for Ghana's economy.
