The Voice Academy is a training workshop and platform for singers from all musical backgrounds and professionals in the industry as well.

Organised by Pastor Mrs Hellen Yawson of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) on the  Spintex Road, the academy is aimed at training musicians to cultivate the art of music professionally.

This year’s edition will feature two resource persons; David Brew, a music director and  keyboardist and Kpabitey Kofi, Chief Executive Officer  of BYTE Productions and a music director. The two are expected to  coach musicians on how to use their voice as an “instrument”.

Some of the topics that will be discussed at the Voice Academy are  : “How to prevent vocal strain”, “Vocal health”, “Vocal warm ups and breath management exercises” and “vocal improvisions”.

In an interview with Showbiz on Monday, Mrs Hellen Yawson said the need to nurture a new generation of musicians was a source of strength to start the academy.

‘‘I started this voice academy because I noticed that a lot of singers were unaware of how to manage and maximise their singing abilities. As a professional who has been singing in church for almost 30 years, I think musicians must give off the best of their vocals which is the most important tool of every good artiste,” she stated.

Describing the Academy as a “God given vision”, Mrs Yawson said it was  her desire to impart the new generation with her talent as a musician for the good of the industry.

Previous editions of Voice Academy have seen patronage from choirs, choir directors and individual singers and have also had experienced singers such as Danny Nettey and Denzel Agyemang Prempeh as resource persons.
