National symphony orchestra to perform at Global Evangelical church carols night

As the Christmas festivities approach, many religious and corporate bodies alike are organising carols services to herald the birth of Jesus Christ, the reason for the season.

And the Teshie branch of the Global Evangelical Church will not be left out as they organise theirs on Tuesday December 22.

Backed by the popular National Symphony Orchestra and the Amen Voices, the 80-member choir, made up of the various singing groups in the church, will thrill music lovers to traditional and contemporary carols in their maiden carols service dubbed Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to welcome the birth of Christ.

Speaking to Graphic Showbiz, the music director of the church and the conductor of the programme, Hilarius Wuaku, stated that the programme which begins this year as an annual one is aimed at commemorating the birth of Christ and also developing the musical talents of the youth in the church.

“Initially, we aimed at a 150-member choir, but so far we have around 80, made up of the various singing groups, the contemporary church choir,Voices of Christ Ambassadors and Hadzihaga group also in the church. It’s going to be an exciting night as the National Symphony Orchestra and Amen Voices will join our huge mass choir on one stage to treat the general public to Christmas carols at our church which is located off the First Century Road by the Teshie Nungua first junction  ’’.

The instrumentation of the National Symphony Orchestra is made up of Western Classical and African Musical Instruments such as violins, Flutes, Trumpets, and heavy frontomfrom drum sets, bells and others. The numerical strength of the Orchestra stands at 58; the number of performers being 47 and administrative staff of 11, and they will thrill at the Tuesday evening event.
