Stop disgracing yourselves — Actress Eva Danso to celebs

Perceptions about the lack of unity in the entertainment industry have been fueled by fights among celebrities. Lately, there have been feuds among especially female celebrities with some using very abusive language against others.

Some have even gone to the extent of revealing deep secrets about others when their friendships fall apart, but actress Eva Danso Aikins believes such behaviour is untoward and has asked her colleagues to stop disgracing themselves.

To Eva, celebrities are supposed to live lives worth emulating and not attacking one another on social media.
 
“I think the word celebrity has been misused. I don’t want to mention names but most of my colleagues do not deserve the title celebrity because there is nothing to be celebrated about them. The young ones must look up to us and learn something from us but what do we see, insults upon insults,” she told the Graphic Showbiz recently.

Based on what she had seen and heard, Eva believed there was no true friend in the industry. “Look at the way some of our celebrities quickly go on social media to say dirty things about themselves when they are no longer friends.

“A true friend will not reveal your secrets because you are no longer friends. I feel ashamed and embarrassed when I hear such stuff because I am also in the industry. Someone you call a friend would get a role and would not even call to tell you because she feels you are a threat,” she said.

Away from that, Eva, who had acted in movies such as More Than Crazy, Beautiful Ruins, Silver Rain and TV series Illusions, Living With Trisha, 5 Brides and Dede, said there was no way she would date an industry person because she doesn’t want her issues to be all over the place.

“It is impossible for a celebrity to hide his or her relationship from the public and I wouldn’t want to date an industry person because our issues will always be out there. I would prefer someone who is not in the industry but very hardworking and fun to be with,” she said.

Eva, who was a Miss Ghana finalist in 2006, also doubles as a banker and she says it is difficult combining both acting and banking.

“Although it is not easy combining the two, it is advisable I combine them because the movie industry has gone down a bit. I always tell my colleagues to do something else apart from acting so that they are not found wanting,” she said.

She has plans to own her production house and set up an NGO for single parents because she was raised by a single parent.
