R2Bees nominated for 2013 BET Awards

Ghanaian rap duo, R2Bees has been nominated for the 2013 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

They were nominated in the Best International Act, Africa category alongside Nigeria’s 2Face Idibia and Ice Prince, South Africa’s Toya Delazy and Donald, and Uganda’s Radio and Weasel.

R2Bees is the second Ghanaian music group that has been nominated in the same category following Sarkodie who jointly won the award with Nigeria musician Wizkid.

R2Bees has also received nine nominations at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards schedule to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 18.

The nominees list was released on Wednesday and topping this year’s nominees list with 12 nominations is the Young Money hit maker, Drake.

2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar earned eight nominations apiece, A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z each have five, and Justin Timberlake and Miguel have four each. 

Chris Brown and R. Kelly were also announced as performers, and "Friday" actor Chris Tucker is expected to host this year’s award ceremony which will be aired live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on June 30.
