MUSIGA and British Council hold training sessions

“The sessions are targeted at both aspiring and established music professionals and practitioners in Ghana and are applicable to every category of professions from all the sub-sectors and professions within the music sector,” the statement added.

Each session is expected to give participants the opportunity to learn from the professionals, exchange ideas and network. The seminars start at midday on both days.

The first seminar on March 27 will discuss issues such as: Understanding Today's Music Industry: Overview & Update - From Local to Global; New and Existing Revenue Streams plus Teamwork and Third Party Relationships.

The March 28 seminar will tackle matters such as Fan Base Development: Requirements, Behaviour, Engagement and  Monetisation and  Your Digital Presence: Media, Tools and Services.

The two major speakers at the sessions will be Stuart Worthington and Keith Harris, both from Britain.

Stuart Worthington  has over 20 years of  experience as a provider of management consultancy: small business information, advice and guidance as well as  professional training and development services for a range of  clients and strategic partners  in the cultural and  creative fields across four continents.

Keith Harris is the Director of Performer Affairs at PPL, a UK-based music licensing company and performance rights organisation. His vast experience in music includes working with major companies like EMI Records and Motown. Artistes he has worked with include Elton John, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder.

He is a Senior Fellow of the University of Westminster School of Music, Film and Fashion where he has lectured since 1993.
