Longest Feast Table to break World Record

Promasidor Ghana Limited has launched an initiative to create the longest table measuring 1,900 meteres with the aim of breaking the world record and earn a place in the Guinness Book of Records on March 25 at the Independence  Square.

The current record for the longest table measures 1,508 metres (4.947 ft 5.96 in) and was achieved by a Saudi Arabian company Afia International Company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on July 5, 2015.

At the launch of the initiative dubbed Onga Longest Feast Table, last Wednesday, Shine Akim Torsoo, Marketing Manager of Promasidor, said they more confident to beat the world record and place Ghana in the Guinness Book of Records.

" I am yet to hear of Ghana in the Guiness Book of Records so we are going to set the pace. Over 3,000 Ghanaians will join the Onga  table at the Independence Square to celebrate over 10 years of providing quality and tasty meals of the various regions in the country.

"The world record is around 1,500 metres and we are going to do 1,900 metres. After that, we will have a feast with 3,000 of our guests and there will be an announcement by officials of the Guinness Records," he explained.

"The Onga Longest Feast Table will also showcase the rich Ghanaian food culture to the outside world through the exhibition of staple food from the 10 regions of Ghana spiced with Onga seasoning.

Mr Torsoo added that “ participants for the strictly by invitation event will not only be part of history-making but also be treated to rich  entertainment.”

Amakye Dede, Ohemaa Mercy among others are billed to entertain participants at the event.

According to  Emeline Tagoe, Brand Manager of Onga, aside breaking a world record, the event would also offers Onga the opportunity to give back to society by catering for 300 children from selected orphanages.

 

 “The event also offers another opportunity for the brand to give back to the society as hundreds of children from various orphanages will be fed and given freebies", she added.
