The ladies, whose ages ranged from 18 to 25, were expected to display inner and outer beauty as well as intelligence in answering questions posed to them by the judges.

The judges, Rodney Quarcoo; former Miss Malaika Ghana queen Ama Nettey; and journalist, William Asiedu; looked out for boldness, eloquence and unique talents of the “wannabes”. One’s knowledge of current affairs also attracted  marks from the judges.

As usual, some of the young ladies displayed  high levels of intelligence and also showed off their physical features and inner qualities. Others also showcased their natural gifts as they sang and performed contemporary dances such as Azonto and Alkayida.

More than 50 ladies lived up to the judges’ expectations and thus qualified for the next round of the auditions.

According to the organisers, GhOne, 12 ladies will be selected to compete for the crown “and also have a tremendous transformation of their lives as well as numerous opportunities.”

The event’s director for GhOne, Miss Apefa Nfodjo, said the Miss Malaika pageant has given professional grooming to young ladies and trained them for the “task ahead in life”

“Even those who do not emerge winners end up with very important life skills that propel them to greater heights in all fields of endeavour and we are proud of what the Malaika brand has done for many who have passed through it,” she said.

In its twelfth year, the Miss Malaika beauty pageant has grown to become one of the reputable beauty pageants in the country.
