Evans Hunter to be buried on August 3

Well-known stage and screen actor Evans Nii Oma Hunter, who died in Accra on Tuesday, June 4, will be buried at the Osu Cemetery in Accra on Saturday, August 3.

Nii Odoi Mensah, President of the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG) informed the Daily Graphic that the burial would be preceded by a wake on Friday, August 2 at the Centre for National Culture in Accra.

“The body will be laid in state and there will be drama performances, poetry recitals and live band music on the night,” the GAG president said.

Hunter was the president of the Ghana Actors Guild from 1989 to 1996. He was also the founder and Artistic Director of the Audience Awareness Artistic Organisation.

A versatile personality, Hunter had been active in theatre since the early 1960s functioning on various levels as an actor, producer, director and writer.
