Celebrities must seek impact with their fame, says Ken Fiati
FOR many celebrities, the ultimate dream is to bask in the spotlight, revel in fame, and enjoy all the trappings that come with it.

And once they achieve that coveted status, it's often seen as the pinnacle of success. But actor and film director, Ken Fiati believes celebrities can - and should - aim higher than that.
To him, being a celebrity is not just about flaunting wealth and fame on social media, but leveraging their influence to create meaningful and lasting impact in their communities.
Mr Fiati shared this in an interview with Graphic Showbiz on the sidelines at the recent launch of the Ghana Celebrity Impact Awards, an event that aims to recognise and celebrate celebs who are influencing society positively.
According to him, famous people had unique platforms and responsibilities to use their prominence for good and make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
He urged his colleagues to reassess their priorities, recognise the power of their influence and transform their fame into making a real difference in the world.
“As a celebrity, your influence extends far beyond the realm of entertainment. You have a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on society, and it's essential to use your platform wisely. Rather than simply showcase your wealth and status, you should strive to be a force for good, driving positive change and supporting important causes.
“By doing so, you can leave a legacy that goes beyond your fame, inspire others and bring about real change in the world. Your impact should be felt long after the spotlight fades, and your presence should be a blessing to those around you.
“When you prioritise substance over superficiality, you become more than just a celebrity – you become a leader, a role model and a source of inspiration. Your influence can shape culture, challenge societal norms and bring about a brighter future for all. So, use your platform to uplift, to educate and to inspire and your impact will be felt for generations to come”, he added.
Also, he asked the media to help spread the good things our stars do, so others will be inspired to do the same.
“Instead of reporting only scandals and controversies, the media should highlight the positive work and projects for other celebrities to see the good examples and be motivated to do the same.
“When you share and project the good stories, you would be encouraging more of our stars to get involved in meaningful projects and make a difference in their communities. And this can create a ripple effect of kindness”, he added.
