Lauryn Hill for AfroBeats Festival

The three-day music festival which will be held at the Independence Square in Accra will in addition to Lauryn Hill, feature a combination of both established and up-and-coming artistes from Ghana such as Stonebwoy, EL, Kojo Cue, Lil Shaker among others.

This year, the event to be sponsored by Accra Brewery Limited will feature different musical themes for each day. On Friday, December 12, there would be an exclusive VIP party to officially launch the event, followed by an actual Afrobeats party on Saturday. On Sunday, Lauryn Hill will host a mellowed-down Acoustic concert to crown activities.

At a press launch held in Accra, the CEO of BBnZ, organisers of the festival,  Alvin Bekoe, said the event aimed to highlight the immense talent of Ghanaian musicians on a platform that would expose them to the world.

“Ghana has a wealth of talented musicians and this is an opportunity to put them on one of the biggest stages in the country. By letting the new faces perform alongside already established artistes, we hope to give them the needed exposure to launch their careers,” he said.

He disclosed that initially, the festival was meant to be a day’s event but considering the reception they received last year, they decided to extend it by two more days.

The Chief Operating Officer of BBnz, Kwame Blay, revealed that the admission fee of GH¢10 would provide access for the entire duration of the three-day festival.

“Although there would be a VIP section, we decided to peg the gate fee for the general public at GH¢10 for all three days in order to reach out to everyone. This is a once in a lifetime event to see Lauryn Hill live in concert and as a result, it should be accessible to all,” he said.
