Vodafone Foundation supports LaDMA with nose masks
Vodafone Ghana Foundation has presented boxes of nose masks to the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) to help in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 within its operational area.
This is to help support the assembly’s campaign dubbed ”Operation Wear Your Mask” in the wake of the pandemic.

Speaking at the presentation in Accra on Tuesday, the Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation, Mr Amaris Nana A Perbi, said: “This presentation is in response to a request we received from the assembly to support its on-going COVID-19 awareness campaign which will also see the distribution of the nose masks to residents, drivers, traders and market women within the various communities in La.”
He said the donation was one of the many initiatives from Vodafone as part of its commitment to help the country combat the global pandemic and minimise its impact on Ghanaians and businesses.
He explained that since the outbreak, the Foundation had donated protective gowns with shoe covers, face shields, boxes of N95 face masks, disposable tissues and surgical gloves as well as thermometer guns to various hospitals across the country.
He added that “similar presentations will be made to two key hospitals in the Ashanti and the Upper West regions this week.”
Other initiatives
He said the foundation had also launched its pioneering Healthline Medical Call Centre to help provide guidance and dispel the misinformation out there about COVID-19.
“Vodafone’s Big Data initiative, which is in partnership with Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) and the Flowminder Foundation, is helping the government to understand people’s movements to help contain the virus. Together, the team has produced analysis, which helps the government understand how effective its restrictions have been and enable it to plan its next move in the fight against the virus,” he noted.
He said Vodafone’s e-learning platform, which covers English, Science, Maths and other subjects, continued to provide free access to a wide range of educational materials for Ghanaian students.
“We will continue to support the fight against this pandemic with unique initiatives that address the country’s specific needs,” he said.

Receiving the items, the Municipal Chief Executive of LaDMA, Reverend Solomon Kotey-Nikoi, expressed gratitude for the support.
“We all know the situation we find ourselves in and we thank you for coming to help during this pandemic. This week, we are going to promote the wearing of nose masks and we believe your coming here is timely because it will go a long way to support the municipality,” he noted.
