Led by its President, Mr Ekrem Demirtas, members of the delegation met with members of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and other business persons at a forum in Accra.

The Turkish investors included those with interests in agriculture, construction, textiles and automobile.

The President of the GCCI, Mr Seth Adjei Baah, urged local businesses to strategically position themselves in order to form business partnerships and joint ventures for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Ghana, he said, was currently one of the fastest growing economies in the world and that sent strong signals that the business environment in Ghana was conducive and supportive of foreign investment.

“It is, therefore, of no wonder that day after day, a lot of nations keep knocking at our doors to do business with us and today’s event also attests to the same fact,” he said.

Ghana’s economy has several business opportunities such as in the areas of agriculture and agro-processing, banking and finance, construction and infrastructure and real estate development, tourism, telecommunications, information and communications technology, oil and gas extraction, mining and quarrying.

Mr Baah, therefore, urged the Turkish investors to form strong and mutually beneficial partnerships, saying, “we are not looking for ‘father-son partnerships but rather strategic partnerships that are built on brotherliness, trust and mutual cooperation.”

“Partnerships that will see equal movement of goods and services between Ghana and Turkey and not one that is skewed in favour of one country.”

Mr Demirtas also called on Ghanaian investors to take advantage of opportunities that existed in Turkey, be it trade or education, in order to deepen trade relations between the two countries.
