A MULTIPURPOSE library built by the MTN Ghana Foundation at the Ebenezer Senior High School (SHS) to serve Dansoman and its environs is attracting high turnout since it was first opened to the public.

Inaugurated in November 2020, the facility worth GH¢770,000 has recorded over 20,000 patronages.

The Head of Dansoman Multi-purpose Library, Rejoice Akosua Adjei, disclosed this when the officials of MTN Ghana visited the facility on May 24 to know the maintenance culture at the facility, as well as engage students and other attendants to the facility.

She said the library was impacting many lives in the community and urged all to take advantage of the facility to equip themselves.

She also called on corporate institutions to come to their aid with more books to impact more lives in the community.

"We are appealing for more books. In fact, we have written to some institutions for books because day in and day out the number keeps going up and the need for books always comes in although the National Library Authority provides us with books," she added.

The Senior Manager for Sustainability and Social Impact, Robert Kuzoe, who led the officials of MTN Ghana, explained that facility maintenance culture still remains an issue such that most facilities in the country were not in good shape.

He said as part of the foundation’s measures to enhance education, the facility was built to boost the reading habit among people in the community.

Mr Kuzoe, who was impressed by how well the library has been maintained, added that “as you can see this facility looks as if it was handed over today but this was handed over in 2020. I am impressed with how the facility has been taken care of,” he said.

He encouraged the people in the community, especially students, to make good use of the library to help improve on their performance at school.
